Noticed last week that the lawn was starting to get a bit tired looking, always an indication at this time of year that a little feeding is in order. I normally use a general lawn fertiliser first in early May, then in late June or early July, final summer feed in mid august, I scatter the feed, a bit on the light side to prevent scorching.
Do remember if the weather is dry to get out the sprinkler on a regular basis. As well as the summer lawn treatment which gives an almost instant boost, I have found out in recent years that it is the autumn feed which gives the most benefit, it seems to strengthen the grass roots and come spring the lawn will be in a much better condition than if you had not bothered to do so. However you must not use the summer feeding, buy a proper autumn lawn food, I would recommend Scotts Autumn Lawn Food.
At this time of year if even with your feeding and watering regime your grass is still not growing well, try spiking the lawn with a garden fork to improve the drainage.
