Wednesday October 25th

Last night was an important date in the gardening calendar, the presentation for Aberdeen’s best gardens was held in the Beach Ballroom.

The venue was well packed with gardeners who had entered. Quite a number of categories involved in the competition, each one with six places up for grabs.

The event was handled with excellent professionalism and dignity, and each winning entrant from sixth till first had to go forward to receive their presentation.

The spokesman for the evening told us in a typical Scottish amusing droll manner, if your last you’ll be first and if your first you’ll be last.

Well as I was saying yesterday, I would let you know the results today. Myra and I chose this year to enter our front garden, and I am delighted to tell you that I was last to go up for the presentation.

Not only did we get first place for our area, we were very well pleased to receive the top prize for best front garden in Aberdeen.  Time to start planning for next year, think we will enter the back garden.
