Holly Golden King

This incredibly striking and handsome Holly was found growing in a garden in 1898. Seedling hybridised naturally from Holly plants which had been in the garden for a number of years.

The beautifully shaped leaves have a golden yellow edge, completely free of spines, making pruning so much easier. This evergreen will brighten your garden in the dullest of Winter days.

Golden King, in spite of the name is the female plant, (I have no idea how that came about) so if you are looking for berries plant a male variety.

A good choice would be Silver Queen, (yes thats a male specimen) obviously somebody with a sense of humour.

Golden King will eventually reach a height of 600cm, grows and berries well in sun or shade and can be kept to the height you desire with selective pruning.

The Royal Horticultural Society justifiably gave it the prestigeous award of garden merit.

:Hardiness – Fully Hardy

:P osition – Sun/Shade, Any reasonable free draining soil.

:Height – 600cm, Easy to keep in check.
