Blush Noisette Climbing Rose — 8 Comments

  1. Hello Ruth, my practise has always been to remove the canes altogether and tie the rose branches to the frame of the arch.

  2. Hello Alastair, I’ve learned a lot from your blog. FABULOUS garden. Could I ask your advice? I planted 4 blush noisette in my garden in early spring from bare root. One at the base of each “limb” of a metal arch/ pergola. The plants are healthy and blooming loads. I’m not sure if I should cut down some of the canes( each has about 6) to encourage the remaining canes to more upward growth. The tallest plant is about 80cm high, two around 60-70cm high. The shortest of the four only 30cm high.Im aware it will take time to grow over the arch. I didn’t want to prune too much in the first year. Hope you can advise!

  3. To have a lovely trained climber to the right, outside the view of this photo. May I ask what plant that is?

  4. I love thornless roses Alistair. It also is repeat flowering rose. I’d love to grow this one but not sure if it does well in my climate.
Thanks for pretty photos and information.

  5. The blush noisette looks stunning. I love it! It’s interesting that it is almost thornless, a very useful thing when trying to train them!
