Summer in our Scottish garden
What do we have Blooming in July and August? Well, I won’t show you them all, but these are the ones which grabbed my attention.
Rambling rose Ghislaine de Feligonde
This rambler has peach coloured blooms which turn a creamy white as they age.

This firm favourite growing in our Fife courtyard shown below also grew well in our Aberdeen garden

Sweet Tea, contrasting very well with other perennials in the border of our courtyard.

It is many years since we have had Sweet peas growing in our gardens. I really don’t know why, they are truly eye-catching

Mind you the Clematis next year will have put on a lot of growth, and I am not so sure if I would really want to hide them with Sweet peas.
I had never before come across this Brunnera, It’s my new favourite. Doesn’t it look very much like a Hosta?

We ordered an Astilbe with purple blooms, this is what arrived. Not really complaining as it has put on a great show.

Not so tall but equally charming.

This is the most sensational hardy Geranium I have come across. Last year with deadheading it bloomed from June till late October. This year with the unexpected heat it has grown massive and burnt itself out in the first week of August. I cut it back and within a few days new leaves had formed, may well get a second flush of flowers.

This is the first year for our Clematis. Expecting a bigger show next year. We went for Viticella’s, no faffing about with pruning procedure, simply cut back hard in early Spring

Persicaria never grew well in our Aberdeen garden. It was always a puzzle to us. Here in our Fife garden, they thrive and such a long flowering period.

With plenty shades of pink and red in the garden, this Leucanthemum makes for a nice change.

This short Anemone sits well at the front of the border.

We were very dry in June/July Nadezda. I was out with the hose a lot.
Nice anemone and Rose Amber, Alistair. Your garden looks colorful, seems you have had rains. My astilbes didn’t bloom well due to very hot days.
Your brunnera really looks like hosta 🙂

you have some lovely blooms there Alistair, that brunnera does look a bit like a hosta, beautiful foliage,
I have found some growers seem to think pink is the new purple, and some think purple is the new blue, it can be annoying if you are planting a colour scheme, otherwise if the plant looks good and grows well it adds to the mix,
